choice Pinch pot

My goal for the project was to become more comfortable with the clay as well as the tools available. I also wanted to incorporate some sort of texture and create something functional. To meet these goals, I decided to make a small coconut bowl that could be used to hold jewelry. I painted it with underglaze, and after it was fired, went over it in clear glaze.

Connected Pinch Pot

For this project, I wanted to further my understanding of underglaze by creating a piggy bank. My goal was to make a double pinch pot and cut out a small slit for coins and bills. Following this, I added a tail, eyes, and texture on the stomach of the whale. After it was fired, I glazed with clear mid-fire. Unfortunately, after clear glazing, I couldn't find the project.

Small Animal

My goal for this piece was to create a garden decoration that could be given as a holiday gift. I began by forming the snail's body, then moved on to the shell. For the shell, I had to slowly and intricately bend the clay to form a spiral. I scored and slipped these two together before adding the eyes and finishing details. After firing, I went in with green and brown glaze to match the earthy aesthetic.

Mini masterpeice

For this project, my goal was to continue my practice with underglaze and to add depth to my piece. I began by rolling out a thin slab of clay and roughly sketching out the placement. After sketching, I painted the lightest shades before moving on to the darker ones. This created a seamless blend and allowed me to accurately recreate The Starry Night.

Historically Inspired

I began by researching antique artifacts from Europe and was drawn to the mid-century French pieces. I was inspired by the way they flare out in the middle and taper in at the top and bottom. My plan for this project was to recreate this with my own touch. I added groves and texture along the sides of the pot to introduce a new element. If I were to redo this piece, I would attempt to make it more symmetrical. Other than that, I'm very proud of the way it turned out.

Choice

My goal for this project was to create a small animal that could be used as a garden decoration. I really enjoyed the way my snail looked in our garden beds and wanted to continue the theme. I began by making two pinch pots, one slightly smaller than the other. I scored and slipped these together before adding on the smaller details. Then I underglazed the ladybug and later clear-glazed it.
