Monster

My plan for this piece was to begin with the body, then add the limbs and head. Following this, I intended to hollow out my monster. I stuck to this plan for the most part and added the finer details at the end. I glazed this piece after it was fired with greens, purple, and blue. If I had to redo it, I would outline the eyes and mouth in black. Other than this, I'm proud of the way it turned out.

My original plan for this piece was to create an alebreje based on a bird. However, after sculpting this, it ended up much smaller than I had anticipated. I scrapped this piece and decided to make a seastar instead. Seastars are a keystone species and are vital to our ocean's ecosystem. As for my process, I began by sculpting a half circle before scoring and slipping the appendages. Then, I carved out the bottom of the limbs and added finer details. After this, I added acrylic paint and created a background as well as a poster.

Series of four

I began this project by forming four even balls of clay. My intention for the series was to create four similar tea candle holders. I set three of them aside and started to make a small pinch pot with the other. I then carved out cutouts in my pinch pot to allow light flow. I repeated this process with the other three over the course of a few days. I used white underglaze on each of these and am currently waiting for them to come out of the kiln. Overall, I'm very happy with how they turned out. However, if I had to do anything differently, I would've made them all at the same time before firing.

Lidded Box

Unfortunately, I was unable to complete my lidded box. I was focusing on my alebrije and my monster and ended up running out of time.
